About

Brian and Cindy Schutt

A husband-and-wife team who care for the souls of leaders: what they think, how they feel, and what they choose.

Why we started

We saw what happens when a person tends their soul.

We started Relational Soul Care because we both saw what happens when a person tends their soul, whatever their position. Our clients have ranged from a homeschooling mom to a senior principal engineer working on advanced 3D video processing.

When they took care of what they were thinking, how they were feeling, and what they applied their wills to, their individual and leadership performance improved, and they were happier and healthier.

Brian Schutt

Professional Certified Coach, ICF

Brian Schutt

Brian spent twenty-six years at Intel as an executive and enterprise Agile coach, including a full-time leadership coaching role that reduced middle- and senior-manager attrition. The role was part of Leadership Fitness Coaching, a program that won the International Coaching Federation's 2022 Prism Award for Organizational Programs.

He holds a psychology degree and is an ICF Professional Certified Coach, a certified Integral Coach through New Ventures West, and a certified assessment interpreter for GiANT's 5 Voices, The Birkman Method, and Korn Ferry's 360 and 4 Dimensions.

He works with AI daily, and tests what it tells him before he relies on it. He doesn't comment on technology as a bystander, and he doesn't bolt on tools that don't fit a corporate program.

Soul care coach · Certified Enneagram practitioner

Cindy Schutt

Cindy spent seventeen years in Christian school administration and holds a degree in child development.

Her work as a soul care coach was shaped by A Leader's Journey, a cohort she and Brian completed together from 2016 to 2018, led by Rich Plass and Jim Cofield, who co-authored the book The Relational Soul. The book has guided her understanding and application of soul care.

She has successfully applied the wisdom of the Enneagram with her clients, and it dovetails seamlessly with her highly effective coaching blend of support and challenge.

What we believe

The soul needs care, and it is cared for in relationship.

Made by relationship, for relationship.

Anyone who is in a relationship with another person needs soul care. That is everyone.

Souls need care just like bodies do.

We tend the mind, the emotion, and the will, and we do it before a crisis, not only after one.

Trust, peace, and purpose are formed inside.

AI can give a leader answers. It cannot give them those three, and that is where we work.

We named Relational Soul Care as a nod to The Relational Soul, by Rich Plass and Jim Cofield. Our name carries the book's powerful insights about the soul into the work we do. The book has guided both of us in our understanding of soul care.

Coaching is not therapy. When something clinical surfaces, we say so plainly and refer.
